“The MSD Animal Health stand at the Royal Ulster Winter Fair 2015 will act as a ‘one stop shop’ for farmers on animal health and disease prevention”, said Ian Graham, one of the company’s representatives in Northern Ireland and a veteran attendee at the event.
While MSD Animal Health has undergone a number of company name changes over the decades, it has exhibited under different guises at all previous 29 Winter Fairs.
Farmers visiting the stand will get information and advice on critical diseases such as BVD, IBR, leptospirosis, scour and pneumonia which can be major issues on livestock farms. MSD Animal Health is the leading provider of vaccines against these diseases and representatives will be available to offer guidance on best practice in prevention and control.
Veterinary advisor Mairead O’Grady, who is a regular speaker at farmer meetings in Northern Ireland, will be on hand to give guidance to farmers on the full range of MSD Animal Health products and disease prevention issues.
Information will also be available on new innovations in disease prevention which have been pioneered by MSD Animal Health. These include the recent innovation with Bovilis BVD and Bovilis IBR Marker Live which can be mixed together and given in a single 2ml intramuscular injection for booster doses in cattle from 15 months old.
Expert advice will also be available on best practice management strategies for the control of pneumonia and scour in calves and weanlings including vaccination with Bovilis Bovipast RSP and Rotavec Corona. Control of calfhood disease starts long before a calf is born. Management of cows in the pre-calving period, management of the calving environment and management of the calf itself all combine to lead to one common goal – a healthy calf, with a good growth rate, that will survive through the critical post-calving period.
Visit the MSD Animal Health stand at number 223b Pavilion 2 for more information on the day.
